Cuts and scrapes happen. Whether it’s a small nick on your finger or a scraped limb from a fall, these small injuries are (unfortunately) part of everyday life. The good news is, depending on its type, size and location, most wounds can easily be treated at home.

But how do you know if you’re treating them properly? We’re here to give you the lowdown on how to do just that. A proper wound healing process consists of 3 steps:

  1. Cleanse: We have three words for you: keep. it. clean! Cleanse your wound from grubby, grimy dirt, bacteria and visible particles with the Elastoplast Wound Spray to prevent and protect against wound infection.
  2. Heal: Help your wound heal faster and lower your risk of scarring by applying the Elastoplast Wound Healing Ointment regularly until the wound has healed completely.
  3. Protect: Protect your wound from dirt and bacteria and speed up the healing process by covering it with an Elastoplast bandage.
See? Easy breezy. Following these three simple wound care steps will help prevent nasty wound infections, support faster healing and improve the appearance of your skin.

Why is wound cleansing important?

Getting injured is a bummer. But do you know what’s an even bigger bummer? A wound infection.
This can result in further skin damage, delayed healing, or even a more serious health condition if not treated promptly.
So let’s avoid this altogether by taking the first step to wound healing very seriously and ensuring the cut in question is clean (as a whistle!).

How to cleanse wounds?

Elastoplast Wound Spray

We recommend using the easy-to-use Elastoplast Wound Spray to clean wounds quickly and painlessly* (*95% of test users agree, PMCF Study, “Wound Spray is pain-free to use”, n=59, Freese R, Physician, principal investigator, Hamburg, 2019).

But wait, there’s more! The solution is colourless to prevent stains, odourless and effectively prevents wounds from infection. It even works upside down to allow an easy and fast application. It’s also suitable for children and those with sensitive skin.

After the bleeding stops, spray the entire wound area from a distance of about 10cm to remove dirt and visible particles. Then, simply let the wound and surrounding skin area dry. Make sure to carefully read the instructions on our packages.

How Elastoplast Wound Healing Ointment Supports natural wound healing

When you get cuts and scrapes, you want to heal them super speedy. So here’s the scoop.
Apply the Elastoplast Wound Healing Ointment daily until the wound has healed completely and cover it with an Elastoplast bandage, if needed. It’s that simple.
How does it work? The ointment forms a protective barrier on the wound while creating a moist healing environment that promotes fast healing and helps reduce scarring. In a clinical study using an Abrasive Wound Model, wounds treated with the Elastoplast Wound Healing Ointment have proven to heal up to two times faster and with a better outcome than untreated wounds*.

Our Wound Healing Ointment is antibiotic-free. The World Health Organization recommends against the use of topical antibiotics and washing wounds with antibiotic solutions.
The unnecessary usage of antibiotics could lead to allergies to topical antibiotics and could contribute to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria on wounds, most notably MRSA**. (**Source: Prevention and management of wound infection 2, WHO.int)

Why protect wounds?

Want to know the key to an undisturbed wound healing process? Keep it safely protected. We’re talking about guarding it with your life!
When exposed, the wound is left defenseless against various elements that can cause infection, swelling or other complications.
Image
Bacteria: If left uncovered, icky bacteria can enter into the wound, possibly causing infection and delaying healing. Aka, not good.
Image
Water: Water is a wonderful thing – except when it comes to wound care. Waterproof protection is essential to preventing the wound from getting in contact with water. In addition, water may be contaminated with bacteria or harmful elements, like chlorine, which can significantly increase the risk of infection.
